We’ve all seen how fashion trends can go from season to season and year to year. We see entirely new items, some of the same from previous seasons, and sometimes things are brought back from years past. In any event, the fashion trends for the next season are always waited for and always—always—surprise us in one way or another.

Here we are at the halfway mark of Winter 2011. If you’re a fashion lover—and don’t be coy, most of us love fashion—then you’re probably already planning your outfits and overall look for the coming spring. If you’ve been a little too busy or have just fallen a bit behind, don’t worry—you still have plenty of time.

So, what’s the newest, biggest trend for Spring 2011? All sources—the ones that matter, anyway—are pointing to bright colors. Some of you may be thinking that this has been done numerous times over. You’re right. Bright colors surface every so often in the fashion world. Does this make the trend of brightness a “groundbreaking” trend for the coming season? The answer is a resounding yes, and here’s why.

Color always reappears in fashion trends when spring rolls around, but this year we’re seeing bright, vibrant hues, as opposed to the pastels of the previous years. Designers like Marc Jacobs have shown how glam these bold colors can be. Popular colors? How about pink and chartreuse?

If you’re a little hesitant to splash a ton of colors into your outfits, then start out small and slow. Add a handbag to carry your music phone and a few bangles. Try a pair of pink flats. Tie a simple scarf somewhere on your outfit. You can always work up when it comes to adding more color or going for brighter tones.

The best part? You can use color to pump up a normally neutral outfit. Give it a try. You won’t be disappointed.

Orange Lips Are In!

Orange lips are in! Don’t worry, you read that right. Although some people probably think that orange lips will look hideous, as though you just consumed food laden with poor quality orange colorant, the fact is that runways as well as red carpets have been fun of people sorting orange and peach summer shades. While such a shade would look great when a person is dressed for an award function or is ready to walk the ramp, one wonders whether orange can actually be worn on a day to day basis. Here are a few tips on how you can best cope with this trend!

1. Instead of using an all out lipstick, you should try using a lip balm or stain. Most cosmetic companies offer a range of colors in the form of comfortable glosses and balms. Try on some of these balms as they give a more toned down and natural look instead of the highly glamorous look that simply can’t be worn to work!

2. When someone says ‘Orange’ most people simply imagine the color of the fruit! However, orange comes in a huge variety of hues and shades so you have the freedom to pick one that best suits you. You could chose a soft coral shade for everyday wear or go for a more glamorous shade with hues of red for events and functions.

3. You could also choose to walk the thin line between orange and pink. Peach is often a good color replacement for orange for those people whose skin tone is pale. The color is also not too vibrant and can be easily carried off in formal as well as casual settings. Wearing a glossy shade will enhance the fullness of your lips while providing a more comfortable wear during summers.

4. Always remember that it isn’t necessary for you follow every fashion trend that emerges for a given season. There are several fashion trends prevalent during each season so if you feel that orange isn’t the color for you than simply don’t wear it and go for a more suitable color.

Fashion Disaster Saviors

High fashion can be high maintenance in more than one way. Sometimes your favorite fashion item is not made to be durable no matter how expensive it was! Rips, tears, smudges and so on can be a major embarrassment when they ruin your ensemble during a party filled with people who know their fashion. So what do you do when disaster strikes? Here are four tips that can prove be saviors in several disastrous situations:

1. Some of the hottest and most fashionable garments are also extremely fragile and can easily get you into a sticky spot if you are not careful enough! One product that can rescue you during a wardrobe malfunction situation is a double stick designer tape! Carry this little miracle of an invention with you when you are attending a high fashion bash. It provides a firm hold on rips and tears without being visible to beholders.

2. Tights are one of the trendiest apparel this season and the tighter the tights, the hotter the look! However, there is always the danger of tight ripping or fraying, especially ones made of fragile material that is not elastic enough. On days that you wear such tights, carry a bottle of clear nail polish and dab some on the hole or rip in your tights. Once its dried, the sheer polish hold the garment long enough for you to finish your engagement and its invisible too!

3. Sometimes people get over zealous when they find a shoe that they ‘just have to own’ and end up buying shoes that don’t really fit well. It could also be that your foot has swollen up for some reason and you can’t put those pretty shoes on! Just apply some baby powder on your feet as well as the inside of your shoe and you will easily be able to slip your foot in!

4. Baby wipes may be known for their mildness but they are also very effective in removing fresh make up and deodorant stains from clothes as well cleaning scuffs from shoes!

The Survey for Blogging

The bad news about the Internet is that there are a million people out there who are doing a version of the same thing that you are doing. The end result will be amazing for your blog. The Internet isn’t looking for general voices on topics, but unique voices that are saying something truly different. The moment you find that niche market your audience will grow and grow quickly. You will be the only game in town.

Tumblr, a favorite blogging platform of millions is taking a more active roll during New York’s Fashion Week, which runs next month from February 9-17. For the first time ever, Tumblr, the platform that allows users—nearly thirteen million of them—post pictures, quotes, videos, and other text entries is sending a team of more than twenty bloggers to cover the shows and events during one of the world’s most popular fashion events.

Since the birth of the supposed microblogging platform—many beg to differ on that point—just a few short years ago (2007), has wanted to root itself into the fashion industry around the world. The renowned events of next month will certainly help them do so. Tumblr isn’t just planning to “be there.” It’s founders and President have taken steps to ensure so much more than that.

Richard Tong, who founded Weardrobe—a site that lets users showcase what they’re wearing, as well as other outfits they own, which is now owned by the Google moguls—was recently named fashion director at Tumblr. Tong’s first, and what arguably could be considered his biggest project this year, is sending a vast team of over twenty bloggers to cover the ins and outs of New York’s Fashion Week.

Tong isn’t divulging how he chose the lucky bloggers that he’ll be sending, but the team includes John Januzzi from Textbook, Jessica Quirk from What I Wore, and Rebecca Rowe from The Clothes Horse, and that’s only a few of them. Tong has said that the designers featured at Fashion Week are very accepting of his team of bloggers and are looking forward to having them around.

What could be better than spending one of the highest-touted fashion weeks on Earth with nearly everyone in the fashion industry? It’s all FREE! Tumblr is picking up the tab for everything from airfare and hotel reservations to meals and invitations to all runway shows.

In this day and age, privacy for the glamourous Hollywood elite is non-existent!

With the rise of the internet, this lack of privacy for Hollywood’s stars has become an even bigger issue. Social media, fan sites, and blogs plaster the average person with more information, gossip, and analysis of his or her favorite star. Facebook brought the rise of fan pages so many of Hollywood’s elite began interacting with their fans through Facebook. They would post when these stars would making appearances to sign autographs or be featured on talk shows. Then Twitter allowed celebrities to tweet their location, what they were doing, their plans to their fans so that the fans would be even more connected to the celebrities. Fans would know when a celebrity was secretly going to to pay for dinner for a certain number of people, or making an appearance at the local night club. Fans could be close to the celebrity and feel the residual effects of stardom.

But with all this access, many Hollywood celebs gave up their privacy, then begin whining about how they are always being rushed by fans and paparazzi. Well, if a celeb does not people to follow him or her, then do not tell people where you are going to be? To be a star means privacy is a thing of the past.
