Celebrities are taking over the car commercial market, but not in the way most people would think. After all, the focus of the visual part of the commercial is the car. The auto companies want to consumer to be looking at the features of the car, not a hot Hollywood star that they recognize on sight. Chances are though, the voice telling you about the car is one of your favorite celebrities.

Celebrities seem to be involved in every part of the auto industry and it’s not just the car commercials themselves. Their voices are being used for insurance companies such as State Farm or the benefits of car refinancing.

Most people are curious by nature. This is why we want to know what it is that is going on in the lives of people who are prominent than us. As humans we simply want to see those who have success and money actually come back to real life and that is why we are so interested in the gossip.

Ratings for this year’s Idol were up and the show’s three judges looked to be getting along well. The question is with this diva’s soft heart could she really pull of a second season? Some of the eliminations seemed painful for her to watch and she actually cried during a couple. After having Simon Cowell’s nasty and cantankerous attitude on the show, some felt it was quite refreshing to have a softy sitting in the judge’s seat. Perhaps J. Lo was too soft and a second season too much for her tender feelings? Maybe after one season Jennifer Lopez felt she would do better with her own singing competition with hubby Marc Anthony, which is reportedly in the works. This show will feature Latin singers who have undiscovered singing talent.

Whatever Jennifer’s reasons are, who will Fox get to replace her? That’s a good question but it definitely leaves more options opened to American Idol. Judge Steven Tyler has signed on for another year and veteran Randy Jackson will be there as well. What singer will mesh well with these two personalities? Idol will have to have a big name to fill Jennifer Lopez’s shoes to keep the ratings up, that’s for sure.

Is this the beginning of a worldwide trend? Australian television awards show the Logies has banned Twitter from the event.

Invitations from Logies organiser TV Week, owed by ACP Magazines, said mobile phones won’t be permitted, and later ACP publisher Peter Holder defended the ban as a means to protect the online voting system after last year Dani Minogue accidentally spilled the beans early with a tweet saying Home and Away star Ray Meager had won the Gold Logie.

“Criticising the Logies may fill air time and space on a page, but we’ve recognised historical faults in the system and have gone to considerable lengths over the last few years, and this year in particular, to address them,” Holder said.

However, it’s also to prevent disasters – such as comedian Catherine Deveny’s 2010 twitter-inspired downfall – detracting from the event, and stop the high level of Logies-criticism.

Deveny was sacked from The Age newspaper after she tweeted her hope that 11-year-old Bindi Irwin, daughter of Crocodile Hunter star Steve Irwin, “gets laid” and Rove McManus’s wife Tasma “didn’t die too”, following the 206 death of his first wife Belinda Emmett of cancer.

A Logies spokeswoman said the organisation wouldn’t go as far as searching bags and hoped guests would “observe that request”.

The Logies has been struggling with falling viewer numbers for years, and the twitter ban has been criticized as another reason to turn younger people off watching and an example of how out of touch the television station Seven Network is with viewers.

Celebrities have voiced their displeasure on Twitter, saying they won’t be leaving their mobiles at home.

When the show first started, Nene was one of the most-liked characters. She was loud and boisterous, but she was always honest which won her fans over. As the seasons progressed, she started to change. It seemed like she had a bit of an attitude and it appeared that she started conflict for no reasons. This turned many fans off, but they still watched the show.

In Season 3, Nene went way over the top. She had a nose job which she initially denied, but it was obviously to anyone with two working eyes. Next she had liposuction and breast augmentation- this was shown on camera. Then she had problems with her husband. On the outside it appeared that the problems were because her husband was being distant and dishonest; but the gossip that the problem was Nene.

Her husband Gregg was unknowingly recorded saying something to the effect of the show got to Nene’s head, her attitude changed, and she didn’t want to be bothered with him anymore. He also said that he spent a large sum of money to make her the person she is today, and he wanted that money back.

What will happen to Nene’s marriage is unknown, but you can currently watch Nene on Celebrity Apprentice. The word on the street is that she gets into with the fellow cast mate Star Jones; which honestly isn’t too surprising.

Season two of the show through viewers for a loop. The newest cast mate Tami Roman had conflicts with nearly everyone on the show.  Tami was married to former NBA star Kenny Anderson. The big secret was the while Tami was married to Kenny, Evelyn and Kenny had an affair that lasted six months. This was quite a surprise to Tami because while she knew that Kenny cheated on her, she did not expect to hear that from someone she considered a friend. Yet it appeared that Tami was more hurt than angry at the news. This hurt turned to rage when Evelyn became very nonchalant about it and told Tami that she didn’t matter. Tami then tried to attack Evelyn. She was able to get in one swipe to her head before security stepped in.

Now that he is dead and gone you would think that the gossip about him would fizzle, but it hasn’t. The latest Michael Jackson gossip is that he is not dead, but alive. This should not surprise anyone that devout fans believe this. When someone passes away, it can be hard to accept and you need something to cling onto. Gossiping about a celebrity still being alive is not new. When the rapper Tupac died in 1996 there were rumors that he faked his death. Likewise, people have been saying Elvis is still alive since he died in 1977.

Victoria Beckham, wife of soccer sensation David Beckham is expecting the couples fourth child. The pair have not decided whether or not they will learn the gender.

On the other hand, singer-songwriter Dido can’t wait to find out the sex of her upcoming bundle, but she and her husband have not announced it yet.

Actress Kate Hudson is expecting her second child in July. She currently has a son who is 7 years old.

Tia Mowry, one half of the duo most known for the sitcom Sister, Sister is expecting her first child in July. She and her husband Cory Hardict are excited about the new baby boy.

Jessica Alba and her husband Cash Warren are also expecting a new bundle later on this year. The couple currently has a 2 ½ year old daughter named Honor Marie.

Boxer Laila Ali, daughter of legendary boxer Mohammad Ali is expecting her second child with her husband Curtis Conway. The couple currently has a 2 ½ year old son named C.J. The couples second child will be a girl named Sydney.

Tumblr, a favorite blogging platform of millions is taking a more active roll during New York’s Fashion Week, which runs next month from February 9-17. For the first time ever, Tumblr, the platform that allows users—nearly thirteen million of them—post pictures, quotes, videos, and other text entries is sending a team of more than twenty bloggers to cover the shows and events during one of the world’s most popular fashion events.

Since the birth of the supposed microblogging platform—many beg to differ on that point—just a few short years ago (2007), has wanted to root itself into the fashion industry around the world. The renowned events of next month will certainly help them do so. Tumblr isn’t just planning to “be there.” It’s founders and President have taken steps to ensure so much more than that.

Richard Tong, who founded Weardrobe—a site that lets users showcase what they’re wearing, as well as other outfits they own, which is now owned by the Google moguls—was recently named fashion director at Tumblr. Tong’s first, and what arguably could be considered his biggest project this year, is sending a vast team of over twenty bloggers to cover the ins and outs of New York’s Fashion Week.

Tong isn’t divulging how he chose the lucky bloggers that he’ll be sending, but the team includes John Januzzi from Textbook, Jessica Quirk from What I Wore, and Rebecca Rowe from The Clothes Horse, and that’s only a few of them. Tong has said that the designers featured at Fashion Week are very accepting of his team of bloggers and are looking forward to having them around.

What could be better than spending one of the highest-touted fashion weeks on Earth with nearly everyone in the fashion industry? It’s all FREE! Tumblr is picking up the tab for everything from airfare and hotel reservations to meals and invitations to all runway shows.

At this year’s Golden Globes, we saw what we usually do—our favorite celebrities donning some of the most fabulous new designs from some of the hottest designers out there today. Award shows are typically where we see the “must-have” items for the present season or the next one. We also learn what looks good and what doesn’t. Rapper Nicki Minaj has tons of fans (“Barbz,” she calls them), and she loves them as much as they love her…even when they get her kicked out of hotels in foreign countries. On January 20^th, the 26-year-old was in London for some radio appearances and other press obligations when a massive crowd of her “Barbz” mixed with dozens of paparazzi crashed the hotel she and her posse were staying at.

Hotel security and administration deemed the large crowd a “security threat” and claimed they were disturbing others who were staying at the hotel. One fan was even reportedly injured in a fight during the mobbing and had to be taken away by ambulance. As a result, Minaj returned to the hotel from a press outing to learn that she would have to take her entourage and leave the hotel and find somewhere else to stay.

The rapper did just that, before donning another of her outrageous outfits and heading out for a night on London’s party scene. The switching of hotels didn’t seem to stop her fans—or the paparazzi, for that matter—from tracking her down. She was swarmed again when she tried leaving a nightclub much later that night, calling London and her UK fans “crrraaazzzzyyyyy” in a tweet.

As she attempted to leave the unnamed nightclub, dozens of fans sang her hit single “RightThruMe” as they stood in the frigidly cold temperatures to show their appreciation and love for her. Minaj reportedly enjoyed her fans and the attention in London so much that she tweeted about the possibility of moving there.

Is London ready for Nicki Minaj? It sure seems like it. Sit tight, Londoners, and keep an eye on Nicki’s official Twitter page—if you’re not already, that is. You can bet that if she decides to jump across the big puddle and start a life in London, her loyal Twitter followers will be some of the first to know!

It’s true. This is Oprah’s last year on her world-famous talk show. But you already knew that, didn’t you? If you’re a fan, of course you did! In her final season as host of “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” Oprah Winfrey has yet to disappoint when it comes to her ever-popular daytime talk show which is the highest-rated talk show in worldwide television history.

The same surprises, heart-warming stories, and celebrity interviews that have been a part of the show since it began on September 8, 1986 are very much a part of this final season. All of your favorite segments—Oprah’s Book Club, Remember Your Spirit, and Tuesdays With Dr. Oz among others—are still a part of the show, too. It’s all there, making this season just as spectacular as the previous twenty-four.

Except for one thing.

During her show on January 21^st, Oprah revealed a bit of a surprise that would come on her show this Monday, January 24^th. Winfrey is planning to planning to stage what can only be called a family reunion of sorts. That does’t seem too surprising, right? Of course not. Not for Oprah Winfrey who, at the beginning of this final season, flew three hundred of her favorite guests to Sydney, Australia with her when she went to record shows there.

So, what’s the big surprise, then? Oprah claimed that, during this family reunion, she will be revealing a family secret that she says she’s been hiding from everyone for months now. In a clip for Monday’s show, she stated that what she would be revealing “shook me to my core” and that the revelation would beed “the miracle of all miracles.”

That was all she said, though, to the dismay of many of her faithful viewers. So, for those of you waiting to hear about this “miracle of all miracles,” don’t forget to tune into Monday’s show.

When it comes to celebrities these days, the seemingly constant news flow about who is in which upcoming movie, who was nominated for what award, who is marrying who, who is going to or avoiding jail time, and who is having a baby with whom is just some of what we see in all of the news channels each day. Sometimes it’s just too much to handle, wouldn’t you agree?

With so much of today’s celebrity gossip being nothing but stories full of defamation—that’s what we all secretly love, isn’t it?—and other things that make us feel better about ourselves as “normal” people, it can get old very quickly. With most people thriving on this type of information, that’s mostly what we’ll see. Supply and demand, you know.

What we rarely see is how celebrities are using their fame to get good things done. Those celebrities are out there, but in our search for the “dirt” on other celebrities, we don’t always see the good things that celebrities do. It’s happening right now, and hardly any of are noticing.

So, who are the stars who are using their fame and celebrity status to accomplish good things around the globe? Read on to see a few of them.

• George Clooney has been spending lots of time and money in raising awareness of about recent situations in the Darfur region of Sudan. He helped create a documentary and donates all proceeds to the International Rescue Committee.
• Natalie Portman is heavily involved with an organization called One Voice Movement, which works to find ways to end the Israeli/Palestinian Conflict.
• Brad Pitt founded the Make It Right Foundation to help build New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. He’s also heavily involved with the ONE campaign, which works to combat global poverty and preventable diseases.

A lot of people love Apple Bottom jeans and the rest of their clothing line, but they might not really know where it came from. It was actually created by Nelly, who saw that there was a real need for better fitting clothing that could be popular in the urban market. Almost every clothing line was designed for suburban markets, and what was made for urban wear was often only baggy clothing or ill-fitting. Not everyone in an urban setting likes to dress that way, and Nelly broke through a lot of the stereotypes when he introduced the Apple Bottom clothing line and showed people that you could have a very urban style of dress and still be classy and stylish.

The clothing line quickly became popular with trendsetters, which made it into a household name for the younger generation. Artists like T-Pain liked it so much that it showed up in songs – some of them extremely popular. Not all hip hop artists are going to start their own clothing lines, and many of them probably wouldn’t even want the responsibility of doing all of that, but Nelly did. He saw where he could make a difference in a way that wasn’t tied to his music, and he took it. The rest was the result of the trendsetters in the urban world and how quickly they took to the Apple Bottom line of clothing.

Being immortalized in song didn’t hurt, either, but it wasn’t required for people to see the value of the clothing that Nelly was creating. That’s part of the beauty of this particular clothing line. It’s stylish and of high quality, which is something that a lot of other urban apparel companies don’t seem to offer. It appears as though the popularity of it will only continue to grow.

Celebrities are very much a part of our lives today. We live vicariously through them, it seems. We rejoice in movie awards, news of babies, and engagements or marriages. We cry over deaths, break-ups, and when our favorite celebrity starts dating someone we don’t approve of. Some of us are borderline obsessive, some of us only pay attention to a few of our favorites celebs, and others couldn’t care less.

The good news? They’re engaged and expecting their first child.

• Hugh Hefner & Crystal Harris: Who doesn’t want to know what the Playboy mogul is up to? His normal tricks. His new wife, who’s ecstatic about the union, is just twenty-four.

It seems that Hollywood can’t get enough of actress Natalie Portman on the big screen. If it seems like she’s been everywhere lately, she probably has been. Darren Aronofsky’s psychological thriller “Black Swan” has propelled Portman to the front of this year’s Oscar race in the category of “Best Actress,” and it sure seems like she has a great chance at winning.

While winning that coveted gold Oscar doesn’t always mean good things after the fact, Portman won’t need to worry too much about that. Most recently, she’s been seen in previews for the film “No Strings Attached,” which also stars Ashton Kutcher and opens this month. For those of you who can’t get enough of this spunky actress, you’ll be able to see her in four films between now and this summer. Exciting isn’t it?

While Portman has had a bit of a rollercoaster career after the Star Wars prequels, no film has given her as much success and notoriety as “Black Swan” has. The films above may be successful, but none are expected to even come close to matching the Aronofsky film.

If her success on the big screen wasn’t enough, Natalie Portman is also expecting her first child with her fiance, choreographer Benjamin Millepied, who choreographed all the dance sequences in “Black Swan.” They met on the set during filming and have been inseparable ever since. Portman is expected to give birth sometime in May and will likely continue her acting career afterward.

The big question is will she be able to build on her success in “Black Swan”? While Portman has been known for wasting her talent in low-key films, perhaps the boost from Aronofsky will provide just what she needs to keep moving up.

He ended up serving fifty-one months in a federal prison in Oklahoma City. (For anyone interested, he’ll be a contest on the new season of Celebrity Apprentice starting in March.)

It’s happening again, that always-present ability to buckle under the pressure of winning a reality series contest. This time the culprit is Adam Jasinski, who was the winner of the ninth season of Big Brother. Is he going to prison? Yes, he is. For four years. Why is he being put away? Charges involving drugs and tax evasion.

Jasinski neglected to file income taxes in 2008, which is the year he won the $500,000 grand prize in the ninth season of Big Brother. If that didn’t bring him enough troubles, in October 2009, Jasinski sold 2,000 Oxycodone pills to an undercover officer and was arrested. Back in October he plead guilty to all charges.

Who will be the next “winner” to become a loser? Keep your eyes on reality TV, folks.

On January 19^th, Elton John decided that he’d had enough of the backlash about same-sex marriage while he was performing at a fundraiser on the subject in Los Angeles. He simply stated that he’s tired of being treated like a “second-class citizen” when he’s in America. John, who’s openly gay and is an active supporter of gay rights, became a father when he and his partner, David Furnish, adopted a baby boy on Christmas Day.

As he stood on stage at a fundraiser for the challenge of California’s gay marriage ban, he said, quite calmly, that “as I get older, I get more angry about it.” This comes after Elton John was said to have disappointed some supporters of gay marriage in 2008 after California passed its ban. Regarding that ban, he was reported to have said that he didn’t really want to get married, had no interest in it, and was perfectly happy with the civil union he has in his home country of England.

That viewpoint seems to have changed now. Elton is now behind the repeal of California’s gay marriage ban and is an even more avid supporter of equal rights for gays. He has promised to work as hard as possible to help get Proposition 8 overturned, even though he isn’t an American citizen. During his stint on stage at last week’s fundraiser, John stated that he’d like to see the vitriol and stone-throwing stop. He wants people to start getting along, whether gay, straight, Republican, or Democrat—everyone needs to start getting along and working together.

His son, Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John (boy, that’s a mouthful) was born in California from a surrogate mother that Elton Joh and his partner chose.  The Church of England expressed doubt over John’s ability to be a proper parent, which John was upset over. While he doesn’t belong to the church, he has nothing against religion.

The Grammys are upon us and this years award show should be a good one there is some real stiff competition in a lot of areas. Let’s take a look at some of the categories where the competition looks to be stiff.

The song of the year category looks to be filled with some amazing cuts from some the best artists of past, present and future. Beg, Steal or Borrow’ — Ray LaMontagne,
‘Forget You’ — Cee-Lo, ‘The House That Built Me’ — Miranda Lambert, ‘Love the Way You Lie’ — Eminem Feat. Rihanna , and ‘Need You Now’ — Lady Antebellum. The favorite here has to be Lady Antebellum. The song was an absolute smash hit and they did the big marketing tour of performing it everywhere. However, for many, the song that they want to see is Love the Way You Lie. The dark and disturbing song about domestic abuse signifies Rihanna learning to accept what happens to her and the return of Eminem to the top of the charts.

Another category that should be some stiff competition is Album of the Year. There were a lot of great albums this year and the nominees are as follows The Suburbs’ — Arcade Fire ‘Recovery’ — Eminem ,’Need You Now’ — Lady Antebellum,’The Fame Monster’ — Lady Gaga,’Teenage Dream’ — Katy Perry. The favorite is once again Lady Antebellum. Their album was huge this year. Don’t count out Lady Gaga. Eminem has had a remarkable year but it seems unlikely that he will get the award as he has already lost out on the award two other times, even for the ground breaking “Marshall Mathers LP.”

The Grammys will surely be a big event. With the rise of young artists and the older artists still representing with a massive contribution to the Grammys this year. There are a lot of deserving artists out htere so whoever gets the award will have truly earned it.

Eminem burst on the scene in 2000 with “The Slim Shady LP,” the song featured the smash hit “My Name Is” and was promoted by rap legend Dr. Dre. This lead to album sales topping three million. However, it wasn’t until the release of his second album “The Marshall Mathers LP” did it catapult Eminem into a whole other realm of celebrity. The album sold over 10 million records and was as controversial as it was ground breaking.

But then things started to get out of hand for this Detroit native. A well publicized battle with drugs and alcohol saw a dip in his album production and quality. The Eminem Show was definitely worth a listen, but “Encore” was not worth anything. The album was slow and filled with insane babbling.

At this point Eminem decided to take a break as his addiction spiraled out of control. However, he eventually got help for his addiction and released the much improved “Relapse.” The album was good but it wasn’t where he could be. Once Eminem got himself together he got back in the studio and got to work on “Recovery.” The album was one of the best albums of the year and featured such artists as Pink, Lil’ Wayne, Rhianna and Slaughterhouse. The album is a step up for him in terms of both lyrical content and production value. Eminem raises his game on the album. It’s an album about where he should be, which is on top. 11 Grammy nominations certainly support Eminems theory.

Affleck had bounced around Hollywood for years looking for his big break. When parts in movies like Rudy and School Ties weren’t enough to make him a star he decided to make his own luck. Affleck, with long time buddy Matt Damon, penned the script for Good Will Hunting. After shopping it for a number of years and getting nowhere he turned it over to his good friend, and acclaimed film director Kevin Smith, who shopped it to Miramax on his behalf. The movie was picked up and the two actors starred in the movie about a troubled genius. The movie went on to make the friends household names. It later went on to make them Oscar winners as it picked up the prize for best original screenplay.

From there Affleck traveled down a different path than Damon. He started taking to big blockbuster films and started working on movies that were generating a lot of buzz. He tried to play it safe and instead he ended up with a string of failures and a romance with Jennifer Lopez that did his career more harm than good.

After some time out of the spotlight he returned to make his directorial debut in Gone Baby Gone. The movie was well received and Affleck was commended for his directing skills. Affleck returns with the town and returns with the reputation as one of the better actors around and once again a bankable star. He’s making the right moves, and it’s just about time.

The Oscars are one of the best places for stars to flaunt their best dresses and accessories. Jewels from Cartier made her look even more attractive. Jennifer Lopes is followed by many as a fashion idol, and rightly so. She came dressed in an Armani Prive pink dress which has a dramatic train. This was accompanied by Cartier diamonds. Demi Moore’s fashion style gets better with age. The flawless actress wore a Atelier Versace dress which was tiered with blush grown and combined with Arpels Jewelry and Van Cleef earrings. Penelope Cruz made the red carpet look pale in comparison to the Donna Karan blood Red gown. Combines with Chopard Jewels, made every head turn.

It would seem like imagination has gone right out the window, crashed onto the roadside and then run-over by an 18-wheeler. I guess one could say that about a lot of things but let’s look at fashion here. It is seen every day; both on the street and in classrooms around the world. As usual, it takes one or a few people to start the so-called “trend”. Usually it is someone with enough social standing and impact (movie-stars, rock stars etc). Soon enough, everyone’s got it copied down….even if it were a mistake.

That’s the general trend of a fashion trend. The problem here is that people seem oblivious to the fact that nothing new has really been created. If anything has…it must not have worked. Therefore we are subjected to re-runs and remixes of old styles. Suddenly people were seen wearing clothing that resembled tablecloths with buttons on them. Wonder where they get all those ideas. Perhaps the ‘50s? Let’s put that pattern on jackets, shorts, cardigans etc. Now if one is seen wearing such clothing…when it clearly does not suit them, they are suddenly modern, sophisticated, metro-sexual or all of the above!

I like a good rant as much as the next rant-lover, but where is this going? Is there a solution? I’ve got one. Just like the software available to detect literary plagiarism and the forensic musicologists screening rip-offs, fashion should undergo the same scrutiny. After all, it is another form of art and I am willing to bet that any artist would hate to have his/her work stolen and badly re-done. That sort of examination of what is and isn’t new could discourage or at the very least slow down the rate of fashion-trend-change. Until then those who love their checkered clothing can just say “I love ‘50s style clothing…it’s so me!”

The recently concluded MTV White Carpet Music awards are the next biggest music awards after the Grammy. They never fail to draw loads and loads of class A celebrities who come decked in their best dresses and accessories. These shows have been going for the past 25 years. MTV has been the reason music is what it is today. Form the days of Elvis, MTV has been the cult of pop music. It has given birth to hip hop and other forms of music. Hence any show put forward by this iconic channel which is found in every place on earth has to draw hundreds of celebrities and thousands of fans along with millions of viewers. This makes it ever more important for celebrities to dress to their best and impress the million of viewers.

The 2010 music awards viewers and other celebrities had their eyes hooked on what Lady Gaga was going to wear. Lady Gaga came in an Bonny Bridesmaid or an Alexander McQueen dress along with an unusual choice of a feather brooch stuck on top of her head. It certainly made heads turn and fingers pointed. One thing she made sure was to continue to be dressed like a freak. Kesha on the other hand went green by wearing a dress that was made from disposed plastic bags from the Home Depot. The dress was a mini top which was combines with a thick velvet scarf. Reema Gomes looked stunning in a silver dress by Reem Acra. Katy Perry came in an half white frock by designer Marchesa and looked stunning as usual. Ashley Greens came in a elegant black and white dress by Giambattista Valli. Miranda Cosgrove came decked in a dress by Elise Overland. Stephanie Pratt came wearing a dress by Nicole Miller. Usher and Justin Beiber came in full black suits from unknown designers.

Knowing your celebrities well doesn’t mean knowing just their past life! It is a continuous process in itself that involves enhanced knowledge of the past, present and future of the celebrity. You cannot afford to miss out on their plans and projects apart from their interests, fashion statements and what not. Fans are also bent on knowing the relationship status of their favorite celebrities and reasons for their make-ups or break-ups.
