We’ve all seen how fashion trends can go from season to season and year to year. We see entirely new items, some of the same from previous seasons, and sometimes things are brought back from years past. In any event, the fashion trends for the next season are always waited for and always—always—surprise us in one way or another.

Here we are at the halfway mark of Winter 2011. If you’re a fashion lover—and don’t be coy, most of us love fashion—then you’re probably already planning your outfits and overall look for the coming spring. If you’ve been a little too busy or have just fallen a bit behind, don’t worry—you still have plenty of time.

So, what’s the newest, biggest trend for Spring 2011? All sources—the ones that matter, anyway—are pointing to bright colors. Some of you may be thinking that this has been done numerous times over. You’re right. Bright colors surface every so often in the fashion world. Does this make the trend of brightness a “groundbreaking” trend for the coming season? The answer is a resounding yes, and here’s why.

Color always reappears in fashion trends when spring rolls around, but this year we’re seeing bright, vibrant hues, as opposed to the pastels of the previous years. Designers like Marc Jacobs have shown how glam these bold colors can be. Popular colors? How about pink and chartreuse?

If you’re a little hesitant to splash a ton of colors into your outfits, then start out small and slow. Add a handbag to carry your music phone and a few bangles. Try a pair of pink flats. Tie a simple scarf somewhere on your outfit. You can always work up when it comes to adding more color or going for brighter tones.

The best part? You can use color to pump up a normally neutral outfit. Give it a try. You won’t be disappointed.

J. Lo a No-Go for Second Season on American Idol?

American Idol judge, Jennifer Lopez, is “on the fence” about returning for a second season on Idol she tells BBC Radio. J. Lo has so many other projects in the works right now that her time is very limited but she has not been made to make a definite decision…..yet. And it appears she is thankful for that.

Ratings for this year’s Idol were up and the show’s three judges looked to be getting along well. The question is with this diva’s soft heart could she really pull of a second season? Some of the eliminations seemed painful for her to watch and she actually cried during a couple. After having Simon Cowell’s nasty and cantankerous attitude on the show, some felt it was quite refreshing to have a softy sitting in the judge’s seat. Perhaps J. Lo was too soft and a second season too much for her tender feelings? Maybe after one season Jennifer Lopez felt she would do better with her own singing competition with hubby Marc Anthony, which is reportedly in the works. This show will feature Latin singers who have undiscovered singing talent.

Whatever Jennifer’s reasons are, who will Fox get to replace her? That’s a good question but it definitely leaves more options opened to American Idol. Judge Steven Tyler has signed on for another year and veteran Randy Jackson will be there as well. What singer will mesh well with these two personalities? Idol will have to have a big name to fill Jennifer Lopez’s shoes to keep the ratings up, that’s for sure.

If the most enjoyable part of an awards ceremony is checking out what your favorite celebrity is wearing, or if the first place you look in the tabloids is the page that shows celebrities when they are dressed down, then you may wonder what brands the celebrities choose for their clothing. You may be surprised to learn that a lot of them choose Nike clothing.

Who is wearing what?

Well, it depends on the exact athletic clothing clothing you are talking about. Kim Kardashian and Ashley Olsen have been spotted wearing Nike capri pants, while Elisha Dushku, Carrie Underwood, and Reese Witherspoon have been seen sporting Nike running shorts.

The Nike clothing line includes a certain type of tennis shoe that was popular in the 70s and is now making a comeback. You may see Jake Gyllenhaal, Justin Long, or Zac Efron sporting these new shoes. Nike clothing is intended for athletic wear, but we all know that it is worn for other reasons, too. That is probably because the clothes are so comfortable and look good no matter what you are doing.

Where Do They Buy Their Sports Clothing?

Some purchase them directly from the Nike store located closest to them in New York City or Hollywood. Others shop online, just like you and I do. Still others may go to regular department stores or other retail outlets that sell the Nike brand.

So, the next time you are looking for athletic clothing to wear, you may get a thrill out of remembering that you are wearing the same thing your favorite celebrity does.

Basketball Wives Gossip

Basketball Wives is a VH1 reality TV show. Despite its name, there are very few wives of basketball players on the show. The aim of this show is to give viewers a glimpse into the life of women who have been involved with NBA players. By doing this, it gives these relatively unknown women celebrity status.

The show is full of drama, gossip, catfights and partying. In reality you don’t get much gossip on NBA players except that the cheat. All of the women on the show have been cheated on and they have no problem being vocal about it.

Season two of the show through viewers for a loop. The newest cast mate Tami Roman had conflicts with nearly everyone on the show. Tami was married to former NBA star Kenny Anderson. Her conflicts were due to the fact that she likes to drink but she gets aggressive after doing so; which she admitted.

The twist in the plot came in the season finale when Tami and cast mate Evelyn Lozada, who was formerly engaged to ex-NBA star Antoine Walker, got into an altercation. Viewers had been waiting all season for this because the previews for the fight scene were running long before the season began to air.

The big secret was the while Tami was married to Kenny, Evelyn and Kenny had an affair that lasted six months. This was quite a surprise to Tami because while she knew that Kenny cheated on her, she did not expect to hear that from someone she considered a friend. Yet it appeared that Tami was more hurt than angry at the news. This hurt turned to rage when Evelyn became very nonchalant about it and told Tami that she didn’t matter. Tami then tried to attack Evelyn. She was able to get in one swipe to her head before security stepped in.

The Old Spice Guy Shares His Type

Isaiah Mustafa will probably always be known as the Old Spice Guy. You’ve seen the commercials. He prances around with no shirt on showing off his chiseled abs and making the ladies swoon. Some of the scenes are completely ridiculous but he’s really brought the Old Spice brand back to life.

The commercials are obviously geared towards women but the product is for men so the strategy may seem a bit confusing. Wouldn’t it make sense to have a commercial that makes men want to buy Old Spice? Maybe not. Women are the ones who do most of the shopping and if they are swooning over the Old Spice guy, maybe they’ll remember that when they go to the store and see Old Spice. If the man in their life has a special occasion coming up, maybe she’ll think “I’ll get him some Old Spice so he can be like that guy on TV.”

Many women may be wondering what type of lady would catch this gentleman’s eye. Well, Mustafa told US Magazine that he likes brunettes, red-heads, and blondes. He is currently dating Kathy Griffin. Well, they are dating but they are telling everyone they are just friends- you know how it goes in Hollywood. Whatever you want to call it, these two have been spending lots of time together. In case you are wondering, she is 50 and he is 37. Mustafa was previously seeing Neve Campbell or maybe they were just friends but they were spotted together a lot back in December of 2010.

Fashion Disaster Saviors

High fashion can be high maintenance in more than one way. Sometimes your favorite fashion item is not made to be durable no matter how expensive it was! Rips, tears, smudges and so on can be a major embarrassment when they ruin your ensemble during a party filled with people who know their fashion. So what do you do when disaster strikes? Here are four tips that can prove be saviors in several disastrous situations:

1. Some of the hottest and most fashionable garments are also extremely fragile and can easily get you into a sticky spot if you are not careful enough! One product that can rescue you during a wardrobe malfunction situation is a double stick designer tape! Carry this little miracle of an invention with you when you are attending a high fashion bash. It provides a firm hold on rips and tears without being visible to beholders.

2. Tights are one of the trendiest apparel this season and the tighter the tights, the hotter the look! However, there is always the danger of tight ripping or fraying, especially ones made of fragile material that is not elastic enough. On days that you wear such tights, carry a bottle of clear nail polish and dab some on the hole or rip in your tights. Once its dried, the sheer polish hold the garment long enough for you to finish your engagement and its invisible too!

3. Sometimes people get over zealous when they find a shoe that they ‘just have to own’ and end up buying shoes that don’t really fit well. It could also be that your foot has swollen up for some reason and you can’t put those pretty shoes on! Just apply some baby powder on your feet as well as the inside of your shoe and you will easily be able to slip your foot in!

4. Baby wipes may be known for their mildness but they are also very effective in removing fresh make up and deodorant stains from clothes as well cleaning scuffs from shoes!

The Toughest Victory of All

Every athlete knows what it is like to face defeat. No matter how great you may be, you will ultimately be beaten at some point. But then, just about every athlete also knows the thrill of victory- to be able to beat someone else, and more importantly to beat what you currently thought was possible within yourself. For a lot of athletes, to beat their own demons is the toughest event they are ever going to participate in. And the stakes are extremely high — if they lose, they will probably die an early, ugly death. But if they win, they will have a power that will finally be unveiled, that is stronger than any weight lifter, more agile than any field athlete, and can eliminate future problems faster than the most accurate marksman.

Professional athletes often face a sort of Superman syndrome. Simply put, these are young men (and women) who have come to believe that they are essentially invincible. They are massive, powerful, and rich. In a lot of cases, they have always gotten what they want in life, and any time that they don’t, it is a lot to handle. The media is no help, though. To them, when an athlete is doing cocaine, it is simply because he wants to have a good time, and has enough money to spend it on a powerful high. Just as you would find out at websites like TheCyn.com, it is not just about having fun. In a lot of cases, these athletes are responding to a lot of pressure- being on top is not easy.

Elton John Vents His Feelings

On January 19^th, Elton John decided that he’d had enough of the backlash about same-sex marriage while he was performing at a fundraiser on the subject in Los Angeles. He simply stated that he’s tired of being treated like a “second-class citizen” when he’s in America. John, who’s openly gay and is an active supporter of gay rights, became a father when he and his partner, David Furnish, adopted a baby boy on Christmas Day.

As he stood on stage at a fundraiser for the challenge of California’s gay marriage ban, he said, quite calmly, that “as I get older, I get more angry about it.” This comes after Elton John was said to have disappointed some supporters of gay marriage in 2008 after California passed its ban. Regarding that ban, he was reported to have said that he didn’t really want to get married, had no interest in it, and was perfectly happy with the civil union he has in his home country of England.

That viewpoint seems to have changed now. Elton is now behind the repeal of California’s gay marriage ban and is an even more avid supporter of equal rights for gays. He has promised to work as hard as possible to help get Proposition 8 overturned, even though he isn’t an American citizen. During his stint on stage at last week’s fundraiser, John stated that he’d like to see the vitriol and stone-throwing stop. He wants people to start getting along, whether gay, straight, Republican, or Democrat—everyone needs to start getting along and working together.

His son, Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John (boy, that’s a mouthful) was born in California from a surrogate mother that Elton Joh and his partner chose. The Church of England expressed doubt over John’s ability to be a proper parent, which John was upset over. While he doesn’t belong to the church, he has nothing against religion.

Grammy Nods

The Grammys are upon us and this years award show should be a good one there is some real stiff competition in a lot of areas. Let’s take a look at some of the categories where the competition looks to be stiff.

The song of the year category looks to be filled with some amazing cuts from some the best artists of past, present and future. Beg, Steal or Borrow’ — Ray LaMontagne,
‘Forget You’ — Cee-Lo, ‘The House That Built Me’ — Miranda Lambert, ‘Love the Way You Lie’ — Eminem Feat. Rihanna , and ‘Need You Now’ — Lady Antebellum. The favorite here has to be Lady Antebellum. The song was an absolute smash hit and they did the big marketing tour of performing it everywhere. However, for many, the song that they want to see is Love the Way You Lie. The dark and disturbing song about domestic abuse signifies Rihanna learning to accept what happens to her and the return of Eminem to the top of the charts.

Another category that should be some stiff competition is Album of the Year. There were a lot of great albums this year and the nominees are as follows The Suburbs’ — Arcade Fire ‘Recovery’ — Eminem ,’Need You Now’ — Lady Antebellum,’The Fame Monster’ — Lady Gaga,’Teenage Dream’ — Katy Perry. The favorite is once again Lady Antebellum. Their album was huge this year. Don’t count out Lady Gaga. Eminem has had a remarkable year but it seems unlikely that he will get the award as he has already lost out on the award two other times, even for the ground breaking “Marshall Mathers LP.”

The Grammys will surely be a big event. With the rise of young artists and the older artists still representing with a massive contribution to the Grammys this year. There are a lot of deserving artists out htere so whoever gets the award will have truly earned it.
