Celebrities in Auto Commercials

You are watching your favorite TV series on direct.tv and it’s time for a commercial. It is an auto commercial. The voice over sounds familiar but you just can’t put your finger on which it could be. Chances are it’s one of your favorite celebrities. The newest trend in Hollywood is celebrities doing voice-overs for the car industry.

Celebrities are taking over the car commercial market, but not in the way most people would think. After all, the focus of the visual part of the commercial is the car. The auto companies want to consumer to be looking at the features of the car, not a hot Hollywood star that they recognize on sight. Chances are though, the voice telling you about the car is one of your favorite celebrities.

Celebrities seem to be involved in every part of the auto industry and it’s not just the car commercials themselves. Their voices are being used for insurance companies such as State Farm or the benefits of car refinancing.

Stop and listen next time a commercial is being broadcast for the auto industry. You may here Matt Dillon for Pontiac, James Spader for Pontiac, Kevin Spacey for Honda or Jeff Bridges for Hundai.

Stars of the silver screen and television screen are lending their signature voices to many different car companies. Let’s face it, some celebs have very distinct voices and using them to tell consumers about the car gives the car company some familiarity, some trust worthiness and celebrity influence.

A Bright Spring: Groundbreaking? Yes!

We’ve all seen how fashion trends can go from season to season and year to year. We see entirely new items, some of the same from previous seasons, and sometimes things are brought back from years past. In any event, the fashion trends for the next season are always waited for and always—always—surprise us in one way or another.

Here we are at the halfway mark of Winter 2011. If you’re a fashion lover—and don’t be coy, most of us love fashion—then you’re probably already planning your outfits and overall look for the coming spring. If you’ve been a little too busy or have just fallen a bit behind, don’t worry—you still have plenty of time.

So, what’s the newest, biggest trend for Spring 2011? All sources—the ones that matter, anyway—are pointing to bright colors. Some of you may be thinking that this has been done numerous times over. You’re right. Bright colors surface every so often in the fashion world. Does this make the trend of brightness a “groundbreaking” trend for the coming season? The answer is a resounding yes, and here’s why.

Color always reappears in fashion trends when spring rolls around, but this year we’re seeing bright, vibrant hues, as opposed to the pastels of the previous years. Designers like Marc Jacobs have shown how glam these bold colors can be. Popular colors? How about pink and chartreuse?

If you’re a little hesitant to splash a ton of colors into your outfits, then start out small and slow. Add a handbag to carry your music phone and a few bangles. Try a pair of pink flats. Tie a simple scarf somewhere on your outfit. You can always work up when it comes to adding more color or going for brighter tones.

The best part? You can use color to pump up a normally neutral outfit. Give it a try. You won’t be disappointed.

Have You Seen …?

Almost everyone looks for something fun to do to break the monotony of the work week.  Even if you love your job, a change of pace now and then is healthy.  Going to the movies is one of the top recreational activities people look to for that change of pace.  It not only is something to do but a hot office topic when the weekend is over.

What’s Hot or Not?

At present the top five movies are the following:

1.Thor   2. Fast Five  3. Jumping the Broom  4. Something Borrowed  5. Rio

Those which have not fared so well since 2005 in preferences are these from bottom up:  1. Dream Well 2. Pledge This

3. Ram Gopal Varma’s Indian Flames 4. The Little Fox 2  5. Too Beautiful

Going to the movies for a break doesn’t have to be just to the best of movies. Sometimes going to a real loser is so funny it really is more entertaining. Taking it back to work with you prolongs and shares the fun.

Latest Trends in Movie Watching

Probably the greatest trend in movie watching is watching them at home. Home movie watching is a rapidly growing preference due to the faster availability of the DVD version of new releases. The better quality equipment now available also increases staying home to watch. Receiving movies by cable, pay-per-view, or using recording devices (TiVo) are also very popular. One of the more recent trends too is being able to watch regular TV on your computer. This makes catching up on missed episodes a snap. Also very available for purchase is season shows on DVD.

The Maxi Dress – Fad or Fashion Trend?

Filipina fashion designer Mich Dulce at London...

The maxi dress is in at the moment, but is it a fad or a genuine fashion trend? No one is really agreed on this one. Some say a it’s a passing footnote, others say a lasting fashionista must. Even the gossip columns can’t totally agree on it!

One thing is sure, though: it has started to appear back on the red carpet, and where the celebs go fashion often follows. Movie goers see their favorite actress wearing an outfit and all of a sudden everyone wants it. Then the hunt for it is on! People will go a long way to get the maxi dress that looks just like the one shown in the gossip columns. That often means scouring stores in their area. However, there are a few good places to find them online, and www.offers.com is a good place to start.

Movies are a great place to showcase fashion and and many of the top designers pay a lot of money to get their garments worn by the rich and famous. For the designer it can be a really big break just to get the garment onto the carpet.

Getting a celebrity to wear your garment can be just as big as getting it shown off at a fashion show: the eyes of the media and the movie world are on it! It can also revive a career that was beginning to wane, both for the garment and the designer. The maxi dress is going through that process and so is the career of the designer, and all because a celebrity wore the dress.

What is Celebrity Prop Betting?

Sports betting remains extremely popular with a large number of people placing wagers on games like the Super Bowl, the NCAA Final Four, and the NBA Finals. However, a newer type of bet has become very popular as well – proposition betting, or prop betting for short. This type of betting is usually more attractive to newer or novice gamblers and also tend to be one-off types of wagers. Prop betting can cover other activities like politics, breaking news, stock predictions, and celebrities. If sports are not your thing, you can take a chance on celebrity prop betting.

Prop betting tends to focus on celebrities like Lindsay Lohan and Charlie Sheen.  Since both of these actors have had run-ins with the law, a popular bet might be when either will be arrested again. However, other celebrities can wagered on too – and it does not have to be related only to law enforcement. Situations like infidelities, divorces, childbirth, injuries, ridiculous occurances, and even death can be topics for celebrity prop bets.

One of the reasons that this type of betting has become so much more popular is the present of sports betting sites. You can log on to one of these sites and select one of a large number of possible occurrences to bet on; you can even establish your own celebrity occurrence. Oddmakers actually evaluate the behavior of the particular celebrity before setting lines for a specific event. Algorithms and formulas exist to help the oddmakers determine if something is likely to happen to a celebrity.

To have the most success, you should focus on prop bets that seem realistic – there are a number of unbelievable wagers available out there.

Logies fights the future with Twitter ban

Is this the beginning of a worldwide trend? Australian television awards show the Logies has banned Twitter from the event.

Invitations from Logies organiser TV Week, owed by ACP Magazines, said mobile phones won’t be permitted, and later ACP publisher Peter Holder defended the ban as a means to protect the online voting system after last year Dani Minogue accidentally spilled the beans early with a tweet saying Home and Away star Ray Meager had won the Gold Logie.

“Criticising the Logies may fill air time and space on a page, but we’ve recognised historical faults in the system and have gone to considerable lengths over the last few years, and this year in particular, to address them,” Holder said.

However, it’s also to prevent disasters – such as comedian Catherine Deveny’s 2010 twitter-inspired downfall – detracting from the event, and stop the high level of Logies-criticism.

Deveny was sacked from The Age newspaper after she tweeted her hope that 11-year-old Bindi Irwin, daughter of Crocodile Hunter star Steve Irwin, “gets laid” and Rove McManus’s wife Tasma “didn’t die too”, following the 206 death of his first wife Belinda Emmett of cancer.

A Logies spokeswoman said the organisation wouldn’t go as far as searching bags and hoped guests would “observe that request”.

The Logies has been struggling with falling viewer numbers for years, and the twitter ban has been criticized as another reason to turn younger people off watching and an example of how out of touch the television station Seven Network is with viewers.

Celebrities have voiced their displeasure on Twitter, saying they won’t be leaving their mobiles at home.

Shoes: The Latest Fashion Accessory

Shoes are, by far, one of the most important fashion accessories in your closet. The right pair of shoes can set the tone for the entire look, or ruin it if you are not careful. As you consider how you should be using shoes in this way, take a look at how what the celebrities are wearing. Celebrities are often one of the best ways to know what is happening in the fashion world.

You may love the look of Camilla Belle in her Gucci sandals. You may want to copy Kylie Minogue or Natasha Henstridge wearing Manolo Blahnik instead. No matter which celebrity is your favorite, chances are good you can find a more affordable shoe for your outfit or look that’s just as great looking.

You may not have the budget for those high-priced fashion accessories, but you can spice up your look with these tips.

  • Go with an off-brand, but not a knock-off. A knock-off misrepresents itself as the real deal, with a fake logo. An off-brand, on the other hand, may have very similar features and styles, but doesn’t promise to be an original.
  • Know where to get the best fashion accessories without a high price tag. Shop Toms Shoes, for example, for the company’s line of low-price, but high-fashion shoes.
  • Shop around for the best deals. The Internet is by far the best place to find the most options, especially if you want to find something a celebrity is wearing.

Think about your shoe options right now. If they do not compare to what the celebrities are wearing, now is the time to find a few great deals. Luckily, you can find some outstanding shoes that work very well as an accessory to your look. In some cases, the shoe is even more important than the clothing.

Orange Lips Are In!

Orange lips are in! Don’t worry, you read that right. Although some people probably think that orange lips will look hideous, as though you just consumed food laden with poor quality orange colorant, the fact is that runways as well as red carpets have been fun of people sorting orange and peach summer shades. While such a shade would look great when a person is dressed for an award function or is ready to walk the ramp, one wonders whether orange can actually be worn on a day to day basis. Here are a few tips on how you can best cope with this trend!

1. Instead of using an all out lipstick, you should try using a lip balm or stain. Most cosmetic companies offer a range of colors in the form of comfortable glosses and balms. Try on some of these balms as they give a more toned down and natural look instead of the highly glamorous look that simply can’t be worn to work!

2. When someone says ‘Orange’ most people simply imagine the color of the fruit! However, orange comes in a huge variety of hues and shades so you have the freedom to pick one that best suits you. You could chose a soft coral shade for everyday wear or go for a more glamorous shade with hues of red for events and functions.

3. You could also choose to walk the thin line between orange and pink. Peach is often a good color replacement for orange for those people whose skin tone is pale. The color is also not too vibrant and can be easily carried off in formal as well as casual settings. Wearing a glossy shade will enhance the fullness of your lips while providing a more comfortable wear during summers.

4. Always remember that it isn’t necessary for you follow every fashion trend that emerges for a given season. There are several fashion trends prevalent during each season so if you feel that orange isn’t the color for you than simply don’t wear it and go for a more suitable color.

Gathering Inspiration from Celebrity Engagement Rings

Tabloids, photographs, and gossip – - they not only provide entertainment, but inspire us as well. When it comes to wedding rings, this is especially true whether marriage is in the future or we just want to get a look at the latest stunning ring a celebrity is wearing. The Internet provides a platform we can use to view these exquisite, expensive celebrity rings, or even buy one of our own at a site like engagement.jrdunn.com.

Recent celebrity engagements such as Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow, Seal and Heidi Klum, Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson, and Ben Gibbard and Zooey Deschanel have given us a glimpse into the wide range of styles now available for wedding rings. From simple square diamonds to multiple stones and multiple bands with different colors, the designs are varied such that you can choose a ring based on your own personal style, or have one designed just for you.

Rebecca Romijn, for example, received an engagement ring with a six-carat yellow diamond with pink and blue bands that make up the ring, and Scarlett Johansson’s ring has a yellow gold intertwined band with a solitaire diamond. These varied styles inspire us and even when we look at consumer sites like engagement.jrdunn.com, there are styles inspired by celebrity engagement rings as well as other unique styles to choose from.

Multiple bands, colored diamonds, and shimmering metal beckon many a leading lady, and some can be back-breaking expensive, but depending on your budget, there are others that may not be as pricey as you might think. Metals like platinum add individual flavor to such rings, and shopping around can begin by considering your favorite celebrity’s engagement ring. You can still be satisfied even if you’re not rich and famous like Khloe Kardashian or Katherine Heigle; wedding rings are based on personal taste and deep, personal meaning.
